Murfreesboro, TN - A student trainee from MTSU's Department of Aerospace was practicing take-offs Thursday (9/5/2024) morning at Murfreesboro Airport when the small aircraft veered off the runway. Neither the student nor instructor received any injuries.
Officials report that the runway was closed and all flights were suspended until a crane was used to remove the aircraft.
The aircraft involved in the incident is a 2019 Piper Seminole (PA-44-180) that is owned by the university. A previous flight for the plane took place a day before the mishap. That flight occurred on Wednesday (09/04/24) and took pilots over Rutherford County during for a duration of 56-minutes without incident.
