Supplying what can be viewed as a lifetime of water to less fortunate families living in some of the harshest environments on the planet is one of the reasons that Aaron Tremblay and others continue to plan, organize and participate in the annual Walk 4 Water event... Each well literally helps to raise a village...

This year's Walk 4 Water is on Sunday, September 22, 2024. The 4-mile event will be at Sharp Springs Park in Smyrna, TN, with registration opening at 2 PM and the walk starting at 3 PM.

Tremblay, who leads a congregation in Rutherford County, stated... It's not unusual for water in places like Malawi to test positive for fecal matter contaminants. It is also common for families to share the same water supply they use for drinking, cooking, and bathing with livestock—not by choice, but by necessity.

To get water from a moderately clean source in places like Uganda, where 30% of the population lives in poverty, the non-employed family member is typically tasked with making the trek to retrieve it—a hike that averages 3.7 miles...

In countries like Zimbabwe, many residents struggle to earn $2.15 per day, with nearly 40% earning less than $2.50 daily. These families cannot afford to buy drinking water at a grocery store, and their villages lack infrastructure to provide clean water.

Thanks to the participants of Walk 4 Water in Smyrna, multiple villages in distant areas will see health improvements due to access to clean water. Tremblay mentioned that some of the countries positively impacted by the walk include...Clean wells that supply safe drinking water save lives, and many of those lives saved are a direct result of the past two Walk 4 Water events in Smyrna.
