Nashville, TN - TwelveStone Health Partners CEO and State Senator Shane Reeves spoke to the Coalition of State Rheumatology Organizations Advocacy Conference who were meeting Friday (9/20/2024). He shared findings from the Reeves Report, a study of Tennessee's health in terms of education, healthcare and infrastructure.
The Murfreesboro doctor of pharmacology noted, "Only 20% of our health issues are associated with what you might expect, poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking etc. Surprisingly 40% of our health deficit is the result of social determinants of health, which include access to healthcare, education, transportation, housing and food insecurity."
Reeves continued, "These are challenges that we must address in both the public and private sectors to make real improvement."
The state senator highlighted legislative actions he is leading to address some of Tennessee’s shortcomings.
The mission of the Coalition of State Rheumatology Organizations (CSRO) is to advocate for excellence in the field of rheumatology, ensuring access to the highest quality care for the management of rheumatologic and musculoskeletal disease. To aid rheumatologists in protecting their patients and their livelihood, CSRO actively advocates on the state and national level, focusing on educating legislators, government officials and the corporate community on the impact that policy and procedural changes may have to the patient's quality of care and disease management options.
As an organization, TwelveStone supports the transition from acute to post-acute care environments and the transition from sickness to health. It was founded in 2016 and is the third iteration of pharmacy organizations founded by Shane Reeves and the Reeves family.
