The Kittrell High School Class of 1972 had the largest attendance at the Sept. 21, 2024 school reunion with 22 persons present! Clarence Brandon and Steve Cates were former members of the Kittrell faculty who were at the Sept. 21 school reunion.

The oldest Kittrell grad at the annual school reunion on Sept. 21, 2024 was Mary Ruth Messick, Class of 1947.

Brent Tenpenny, Kittrell High School Class of 1972, who traveled the longest distance, from his home in New Orleans, to be at the annual school reunion.

Kittrell was a one-room school house when it opened. Later an additional room was added. Back then, there was only one teacher over the school. The typical semester or “term,” lasted for 3-months, followed by a subscription school for several weeks.

According to The Rutherford County Historical Society, the school was named after Major Marion Kittrell, a local resident whom the Kittrell Community was eventually named after. Kittrell served in the Civil War as a Major.
