Police Say SUV Driver Fails to Yield: Michael Jenkins, 69, Killed in Broad Street Motorcycle Accident

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The motorcyclist who died in Saturday’s collision on Broad Street at Singer Road has been identified as Michael Jenkins, 69, of La Vergne. Evidently, an SUV failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle, according to Murfreesboro Police.

Jenkins was transported from the scene of the collision to the hospital, where sadly - - he was pronounced deceased after his arrival to the emergency department. He died shortly after the 1:46 PM crash on September 21. Jenkins was wearing a DOT approved helmet, however, police say his helmet did not have a face shield.

The preliminary investigation reveals Jenkins was traveling southbound on Broad Street when his 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle struck a 2018 Toyota Rav4. The small SUV was attempting to make a left turn onto Singer Road. MPD Public Information Officer Larry Flowers wrote, “The driver of the SUV failed to yield the right of way.”
