This past Saturday, Middle Tennessee Electric sent crews from Rutherford County to storm impacted areas… That was MTE Public Relations Coordinator Amy Byers, who told WGNS that local crews will help to repair at least 500 damaged utility poles in the Forest City, North Carolina area. Mayors in some of the cities hit by flooding are now discussing with federal officials how clean-up efforts will likely continue for years.

Byers, who described the impacted areas as beyond devastating, said that more MTE crews were called to East Tennessee… Workers from MTE will continue to help in the areas they are most needed in the days and maybe even weeks to come…

In addition to Middle Tennessee Electric sending utility crews to storm impacted areas, multiple Public Safety Agencies throughout Rutherford County are doing the same. Public Information Officer Lisa Kaye confirmed on Tuesday that La Vergne Fire and Rescue, Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue, Murfreesboro Police, and Rutherford County Fire and Rescue, all deployed rescue workers on Monday night to assist with land search and rescue efforts in east Tennessee from Hurricane Helene.

The search and rescue teams deployed from the Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency building on West College Street at around 9:00 p.m. The teams will report to Unicoi County, Tennessee for a morning pre-deployment briefing at the staging area in Unicoi County. As of right now, the deployment duration is three to four days.

“This is how we support our neighbors,” said Rutherford County Public Safety Director Chris Clark. “When a crisis happens in Tennessee, we pull together and help where needed.”

  • The members of the La Vergne Fire and Rescue are Battalion Chief Patrick Hood, Lieutenant John Partridge, Lieutenant Micah Meshotto, and Firefighter Tyler McCormick.
  • The Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue members who deployed are Battalion Chief Wesley Slager, Captain Jeremy Spivey, Engineers John Fisher, Chad Wisniewski, and Firefighter Patrick Welch.
  • Rutherford County Fire and Rescue members deployed are Firefighters John Sympson, Ethan Mabe, Jake Libby, and Gage Dotson.
  • La Vergne Fire Chief Ronny Beasley and Murfreesboro Police Department Deputy Chief Cary Gensemer deployed earlier to join with the Incident Management Team.
