Middle Tennessee Electric Crews Continue to Aid in Hurricane Helene Recovery in East Tennessee and the Carolinas

On September 28, crews from Middle Tennessee Electric made the trek to East Tennessee and the Carolina's to help restore electricity in the areas impacted by Hurricane Helene... MTE Public Relations Coordinator Amy Byers told WGNS that two sets of crews volunteered to go... The crews are currently working with the Rutherford Electric Membership Corporation and the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, both in North Carolina.

The main crew that are working in Forest City, North Carolina, will be swapped out this weekend... In Forest City, at least 500 utility poles had to be replaced or repaired, due to damage caused by flooding.

Byers commented on the fact that the crews responding to aid in the restoration process, volunteered to help... Byers said in an email, "These MTE team members who volunteered for this have hearts of service and come from our Murfreesboro, Rutherford, Williamson, and Wilson offices. We are very proud of them and the work they are doing."

According to mayors in some of the cities impacted by Hurricane Helene, it will take years to fully clean-up the devastation caused by the storms.
