Murfreesboro, TN - The Heart of Tennessee's unhoused will soon have access to vital interim family housing and low-barrier healthcare services. The public is encouraged to attend the groundbreaking ceremonies at 4:00 o'clock Monday afternoon (10/14/2024) for the new 20,000 square foot Journey Home at 1207 Old Salem Road.

Executive Director Scott Foster noted that parking for visitors attending the groundbreaking may be scarce. A shuttle bus service will be between Experience Community Church, 521 Old Salem Road, and the Journey Home's construction site. Come to the church before 3:30PM and use this free service.

This state-of-the-art facility will provide comprehensive services to address the needs of homeless individuals and families in our
community.

Foster continued, "We are excited to break ground on this new facility, which will allow us to expand our services and better meet the needs of our community. The Journey Home Community Resource Center is committed to providing a pathway out of homelessness
and helping individuals and families build stable and sustainable lives."

The new Journey Home will include 10 Interim Family Housing Units that will help to fill a vital need in Rutherford County where short-
term housing options for families are limited. It will also be offering more healthcare and mental health services with increased hours
and dedicated space for full-time staff.

UNHOUSED Capital Campaign ChairRuss Galloway noted, “The Journey Home's new Wellness Clinic will provide medical and mental health care to our neighbors who are often challenged by these issues, as well as a lack of insurance, finances, and transportation. We will provide care without the usual barriers so that it is more accessible to all. This will not only provide better care, but less expensive care as it reduces this burden on our hospitals and Emergency Departments.”

The Journey Home was founded in 2006 as a Christian ministry to serve the homeless and disadvantaged of Rutherford County.
