Murfreesboro, TN – Two cars were locked together around 6:00 o’clock Wednesday (10/23/2024) evening as a result of a rear-end crash. The incident occurred on N. Thompson Lane as one vehicle crested the rise of the viaduct and there was a long-line of vehicles stopped at the traffic signal on NW Broad Street.

Statistics from AAA show that injuries suffered during a rear-end collision will vary depending on how fast the two cars were going. But even a minor wrecks at slow speeds can cause severe damage. Rear-end collisions are typically more dangerous for the rear-ended driver than for the rear driver who hits them.

First responders from Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue, Murfreesboro Police, and the Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services surrounded the crash scene and used firetrucks to create a barrier between the two wedged-cars and other traffic blindly topping the rising roadway and coming quickly upon the stopped vehicles.

Murfreesboro Police warn motorists to “plan ahead, especially during heavy traffic periods when your sight of slow or stopped traffic ahead is hampered.
