Rutherford County, TN – The Vote Centers across Rutherford County officially ended the EARLY VOTING PERIOD for this major municipal, state, federal and presidential election. Election Administrator Alan Farley reports that 117,042 registered voters cast their ballots, or almost 52 per cent. By the way, there are 225,138 registered voters here.
Farley explained that the number of early voters was ahead of the 2016 race, but very similar to 2020 when the pandemic absentee ballots were subtracted.
Farley was a guest on WGNS many times during early voting and he concluded, “It’s been a grueling three-weeks, but it’s worth it. My election staff and our citizen election officials did a fantastic job!”
There were 9 VOTE CENTERS conveniently spread across Rutherford County that were used for Early Voting.
On election day (Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024) there will be 28 VOTE CENTERS across Rutherford County. Rutherford County registered voters, who did not take advantage of early voting, can cast their ballot on Tuesday at any one of the VOTE CENTERS. Select the center that is most convenient to you when you decide to vote. Each Center opens at 7:00AM Tuesday morning and closes at 7:00PM that evening. Anyone who is in-line at 7:00PM is eligible to vote.
And if you are new to Rutherford County, after the votes are cast—WGNS begins its “live” election coverage. Bart Walker will be at the Rutherford County Election Commission where all of the local votes are counted. This marks WGNS’ 77th year of election coverage in Rutherford County. In case you are not familiar with these terms, when a jurisdiction decides to use VOTE CENTERS instead of PRECINCTS, registered voters can cast their ballots at any of the VOTE CENTERS, regardless of their residential address. Of Tennessee’s 95 counties, there are 6 that opted to use vote centers. The State selected Rutherford County to run the PILOT PROGRAM for the Volunteer State. The results of this county’s initial elections, basically shaped the state’s entire system.
