Murfreesboro, TN — In a swift response aided by technology, Murfreesboro Police Department officers apprehended three individuals on Monday afternoon, November 4, after a brief foot pursuit stemming from a stolen vehicle incident. The event began shortly before 4 p.m. when the MPD’s Real Time Crime Center’s License Plate Reader (LPR) system flagged a Chevy Silverado reported as stolen out of Kentucky.

Officers quickly located the stolen truck near the intersection of Lytle Street and Middle Tennessee Boulevard. Rather than complying with police, the driver accelerated, weaving dangerously around other vehicles. After a short-lived high-speed pursuit, the vehicle's path came to an abrupt halt when it struck a flat tire in the parking lot of the Sanbyrn Hall Condos near Southeast Broad Street. The truck had also cut through the Mason Lodge parking lot, heightening the urgency as pedestrians and drivers in the area were put at risk.

According to authorities, the suspects—a group of three, including two males from Kentucky and a female from Christiana—quickly exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. However, their run was short-lived, as MPD officers were quick to track them down and detain all three. The suspects now face charges including possession of a stolen vehicle and evading arrest, and they remain in custody awaiting further court proceedings.

The arrest highlights the effectiveness of MPD’s Real Time Crime Center, whose LPR system has proven instrumental in tracking down stolen vehicles and deterring crime. As the city of Murfreesboro continues to invest in crime prevention technologies, this case serves as a reminder of how such tools, combined with swift officer response, can help keep the community safe.
