Murfreesboro, TN - Another low-income family will enjoy the American dream's experience of home ownership. The keys to Rutherford County's Habitat for Hunanity's home number one-hundred ninety-nine will be presented in a moving, heart-warming dedication ceremony at 4:00 o'clock this coming Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at the Legacy Pointe subdivision.
The Christmas season will be a special one and a second event, the dedication of home #200 on December 19th, also at Legacy Pointe.
Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity (RCHFH) and partners Wells Fargo and Schneider Electric will honor these proud families.
If you have not heard, Legacy Pointe is an 18-acre affordable housing community that will eventually have 76 homes and families there.
Habitat Future Homeowners have trouble finding affordable housing and often pay more than 50 per cent of their monthly income on housing alone.
Due to a housing boom in Middle Tennessee, these families cannot even find rental housing. With the Habitat program, Habitat Future Homeowners buy their home with an affordable low-interest mortgage that will only cost 30 per cent of her monthly income.
Habitat Homeowners complete 50-hours of Financial Literacy and Homeowner Education and 300-400 hours of partnership equity, building their home and others at Legacy Pointe.
The impact of homeownership on many Habitat homeowners includes building wealth equity and stability for their family, better health, better work attendance and career advancements, more disposable income, and children often see their grades and attendance improve.
Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity was founded in Rutherford County in August of 1989 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Since then, the affiliate has built 200 houses in Rutherford County, including in LaVergne, Smyrna and Murfreesboro.
