Stable Condition, Unstable Drivers: La Vergne Tackles Road Rage

La Vergne, TN – A road rage incident on Fergus Road in La Vergne occurred on Monday afternoon. The situation unfolded at approximately 1:30 PM, and it appears to be over a disagreement on driving that escalated — with one person skipping all the yelling and going straight to gunfire.

As a result of the incident, a 39-year-old local man is now recovering and is listed as being in stable condition after sustaining a single gunshot wound during the ordeal. The La Vergne Police Department (LPD) is currently investigating, trying to piece together the puzzle of who thought their driving grievance was worth an attempted manslaughter charge. Police reported the shooting was in the 170 block of Fergus Road, which is about 3-blocks north of Murfreesboro Road. The roadway had to be shut down during the investigation, but reopened at 4:27 PM.

Details are scarce, but preliminary information suggests this all stemmed from a classic example of road rage. While the rest of the city was likely at work, or perhaps making their pumpkin pie in preparation of Thursday, someone decided that highway etiquette required a more... ballistic approach. And at this point, no suspects have been named, but the LPD is “actively working” to identify the culprit(s).

Rest assured, though—there’s “no threat to the public.” This was a single incident over what appears to have been sparked by tempers that were flaring over driving. Stay safe, La Vergne, and remember: keep your turn signals on, your tempers in check, and your Kevlar handy.
