Charlie M. Short, age 94, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Murfreesboro and member of Hebron Church of Christ.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Potts Short; parents, G.B. and Kate Pirtle Short; sisters, Marie Nickens, Janice Singleton; brothers, Samuel “Bub” Short, James “Jim” Short, Bobby Short, Kenneth Short, George Short, and Randall Short.

He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Jonas; sister, Betty (Odell) Oliver; brothers, Floyd (Wilma) Short, Allen (Carolyn) Short, Raymond (Shirley) Short, Thurman (Lois) Short, and Roger (Brenda) Short; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, Joyce Tilford, Emily Norfleet, J.B. and
Arlene Murphy, and Roger and Kathy Bailey. He will also be greatly missed by his grand-dogs, Callie Rose, Chi Chi, and Blue.

After returning from serving in the Army, Charlie worked for Green’s Construction and then retired from Avco in Nashville, TN where he built airplane wings. He was a wonderful husband of 63 years to Frankie and an amazing father to Jackie as well as the kindest person to everyone, especially those who needed help. He loved meeting and talking to new friends and always had a peppermint for everyone.

Jackie would like to give a special thank you to all of the wonderful, caring nurses, therapists, CNA’s, and all the other staff for the love and care given to her daddy at Woodbury Health and Rehabilitation and by Compassus Hospice.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, December 2, 2024 from 10:00-1:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.
