MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Soles4Souls, the global nonprofit committed to turning shoes and clothing into opportunity, is partnering with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for a shoe distribution that will take place later this month at Buchanan Elementary School.
The event is possible through a newly initiated pilot program starting in a number of TVA’s districts throughout Tennessee and Kentucky. Through this partnership, TVA has donated $25,000 to Soles4Souls in order to assist the nonprofit in serving 1,250 children throughout the region.
Those who are receiving the new kicks have already been contacted and scheduled for their fitting, and WGNS will be sure to post photos after the giveaway takes place.
This event is part of the Nashville-based nonprofit’s 4EveryKid program, which is committed to providing a pair of brand-new athletic shoes to students experiencing homelessness across the United States. While not all students at Buchanan Elementary are ‘experiencing homelessness’ as defined by the 4EveryKid program, Soles4Souls and school administrators believe it’s best to serve all students in the school for this fun, unique event.
A pair of new athletic shoes for a child in need makes a dramatic difference in their life, allowing them to attend school, try out for a sports team, and stay active. Through Soles4Souls’ collaborations with school districts, nonprofits, and champions nationwide, the 4EveryKid initiative has served 206,507 children since launching in 2020.
