Repair and Run: Murfreesboro’s New Crime Trend?

MURFREESBORO, TN – Move over, Robin Hood—there’s a new pair of rule-bending rogues in town, and their act of defiance is downright... baffling. Murfreesboro Police are currently searching for a modern-day techie duo who turned a routine phone repair into a masterclass in "How Not to Pay for Things."

The high-stakes crime unfolded on Nov. 16, when an unidentified man and woman bravely entered Compumax on Old Fort Parkway to drop off their iPhone 15 Pro for repair. Fast forward to Nov. 23, and the dynamic duo returned for their prized gadget. But instead of paying, the woman concocted a foolproof plan: “Can I charge the phone in my car to make sure it works?” Spoiler alert: It worked just fine... as did her escape plan.

Without so much as a wave goodbye, she drove off in a silver Honda with temporary tags, leaving the repair bill—and presumably some very annoyed employees—in her dust. Adding to the intrigue, the man was sporting a black "Billionaire Boys Club" T-shirt, which is rich with irony, while the woman kept it casual in a black hoodie with white writing.

Now, MPD is turning to the public for help. If you recognize this pair of "financially creative" individuals, please contact Detective Shan Harris at 629-201-5536. Until then, Compumax employees will be left wondering: Was the hoodie’s white writing a secret escape code? Or just a motivational quote gone wrong?
