In an Antioch neighborhood off Nolensville Pike, a 55-year-old man was arrested and jailed on Thursday afternoon and placed under a $260,000 bond. As of Friday evening, the subject remained behind bars and faces a 26-count grand jury indictment for the sexual abuse of at least two children. The abuse reportedly occurred over the course of four years while he was caring for the children at an unlicensed daycare facility he ran in his home, according to Metro Police.
The nearly yearlong investigation, led by the Youth Services Juvenile Sexual Assault Unit, found that Imran Malik, 55, had raped and assaulted two girls (both under age 10) while operating the unlicensed daycare in his Ashgrove Drive home. Malik was arrested Thursday by South Precinct officers.
One of the victims came forward in January stating her abuse started in 2015 when she was just five years old. A second victim’s abuse was discovered during the investigation with the same age range and time frame.
A grand jury indicted Malik on 14 counts of rape of a child, 8 counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of aggravated rape of a child and two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child.
