Two more traffic crashes Monday morning in Rutherord County. Although studies show that holiday season crashes are usually lower, the past few weeks have proven different locally.

Smyrna, TN - A wreck resulting in an overturned vehile at mile marker 66.8 occurred around 7:45 Monday morning (12/9/2024). The westbound lane of I-24 (going toward Nashville) was narrowed to 2-lanes. Around 10:30AM it was cleared and reopened to traffic.

Murfreesboro, TN - At 6:54AM on Monday morning (12/9/2024) Murfreesboro Police responded to a crash on South Church Street at Indian Park Drive. A Ford Explorer and Honda Accord were involved. 

Murfreesboro Police PIO Larry Flowers told WGNS that there were minor injuries, and the driver of the Honda was cited for running a red light.

Whether we like it or not, Christmas brings overloaded schedules and that results in people trying to get from one location to another. Give yourself a little extra time and arrive safely with less frustration.
