The Metro Police investigation shows that the occupants of the Saturn had some type encounter with individuals in another car while at a gas station/market in North Nashville. The people in the Saturn said the other car followed them onto the interstate where shots were fired just after they entered I-24 west from I-40.

Black, a rear seat passenger, was the only one hit. The driver of the car pulled onto the Shelby Avenue exit ramp and got help from an officer who was working a traffic assignment. Black was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The other car suspected of being involved was located during the night unoccupied at a North Nashville apartment complex. The investigation by the Homicide Unit is continuing.
