With a broken heart we announce the passing of Betty Ruth Scott Hutchinson of Lascassas, Tennessee on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

She was born in Love, Mississippi to the late Hall and Myrtie Scott. She graduated from Hernando High School then moved to Jackson, Mississippi to work for Deposit Guaranty Bank. Betty moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee in 1969 and worked for WGNS radio and later for the Rutherford County
Chamber of Commerce as a bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and the Mixed Blessings Sunday school class.

Betty loved people. Although she was most fond of her family, both immediate and distant, she held a special place for her grandsons.

Predeceased by her nine brothers and sisters, Mrs. Hutchinson is survived by her husband of 62 years, James H. Hutchinson, Jr; son, James and Elena Hutchinson of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Melinda Brunner and husband John of Lascassas; and grandchildren, Isaac Brunner of Huntsville, and Nathan and Aaron Brunner of Lascassas.

Visitation with the family will be at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 5, 2024, from 12:00pm until memorial services beginning at 1:00 pm with columbarium inurnment immediately following. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Woodfin Funeral Chapels and an online guestbook is available for the Hutchinson family at www.woodfinchapel.com.
