MURFREESBORO, TN - On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue units responded promptly to a residential fire located on W. Molloy Lane, situated behind the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office in Murfreesboro. At least ten units were dispatched to the fire, where reports of smoke from the residence was confirmed by Battalion Chief 2. Another issue that was likely raising concern among firefighters was the fact that the residential address for the blaze was in a mobile home park, and it would not have taken much for such a fire to spread to a neighboring unit. The structures are about 15 to 22 feet apart, with their front porches even closer. Some of the awnings that cover the front door and deck are as close as 7 feet apart.
Upon their arrival, Fire Rescue 1 and Engine 3 quickly entered the home, identifying the source of the smoke as a small fire situated in the bathroom ceiling. Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of the firefighters, the blaze was contained to the bathroom area and extinguished effectively. Their quick thinking and professionalism prevented the fire from spreading, safeguarding nearby units from damage. Miraculously, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
In the aftermath, the American Red Cross has been contacted to provide assistance to the residents affected by the fire, ensuring they receive the necessary support during this challenging time.
