Rutherford County, TN – In case you were wondering, U.S. District Courts are definitely not in the business of asking people to pay bond payments at Bitcoin kiosks. Shocking, right? For those wondering if we have Bitcoin ATM machines in our local area, we do! There are about 40 ATM Bitcoin machines throughout Rutherford County (See Map). Most of the machines are in convenience stores or gas stations.

Recently, a resident received an unsolicited phone call from a scammer attempting to sound as convincing as a phony phone call can get. This scammer also had the audacity to send a document that would make anyone’s alarm bells ring – except for the unfortunate souls who might be inclined to believe such nonsense.

Fortunately, the astute resident didn’t fall for the ruse and promptly hung up, saving their hard-earned money from landing in the hands of a scam artist. Kudos to them!

In an act of sheer brilliance, the resident decided to forward the dubious document to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, where experts quickly took a look and noted that it had been altered. This of course was no surprise!

Residents are advised to keep their wits about them and not let scammers lead them to the “convenience” of paying cash into a Bitcoin kiosk. It's almost as if scammers think they can intimidate you into parting with your cash!

So, the next time you find yourself on the receiving end of a threatening call demanding that you pay a bond through a Bitcoin kiosk, remember: just hang up and keep your money – that includes keeping your Bitcoin money too. After all, it’s safer in your pocket than in the digital realm of cryptocurrency scams.
