UPDATE: The heavy police presence around 5:00 o'clock Tuesday night (1/14/2025) in a parking lot in the 1400 block of South Church St. is now confirmed to have started with identifying a "stolen license plate".
The new REAL TIME CRIME CENTER at Murfreesboro Police uses technology to quickly direct officers to offenses, both large and small.
PIO Larry Flowers corrected the story with, "...this was a stolen tag, not a stolen vehicle."
The term LPR stands for "License Plate Reader" and that's a part of the Real Time Crime Center. Several months ago we saw how quickly that device led to an arrest in an attempted murder case, and it also quickly resolves a case of a stolen license tag.
No matter how large or small a crime might be, all of the perpetrators have something in common--they don't want to be caught!
That's the tie that binds and quickly the word spreads, Murfreesboro's Real Time Crime Center is nothing criminals want to tackle, because it greatly increases their likelihood of being arrested.
And Flowers confirmed, yes--that is what happened Tuesday night. The culprit was charged and a misdemeanor citation was given.
Murfreesboro Police are using technology and the Real Time Crime Center to thwart criminals in action.
