Murfreesboro, TN:  Winter Field Day will be this Saturday and Sunday (1/25-26/ 2025). It is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Winter Field Day. The public is invited to come to Barfield Crescent Park this Saturday and Sunday and see how local ham radio operators talk with people around the world. It’s all free!

The Stones River Amateur Radio Club will operate from shelters 3 and 4 at Barfield Cresent Park (697 Veterans Pkwy, Murfreesboro), and the public is encouraged to drop by and see how ham radio works. Learn about upcoming classes that train individuals on how to get their amateur radio license.

Local Winter Field Day Coordinator Mark Swicord said, “Our operations will vary depending on the weather and I expect a few overnight operators/campers.”

The on the air events officially start at 10:00 o’clock this Saturday morning (1/25) and continue around the clock until 3:59PM Sunday afternoon (1/26).

Swicord explained, “The Rutherford County Amateur Radio Emergency Services’ (ARES) trailer, along with two of our member’s trailers, are scheduled to support Winter Field Day. There are plans for HF (SSB, CW and digital), VHF voice and digital along with Satellite operations.”

This will be a great time to bring your rig or go kit to the field for exercising, testing, and trouble shooting. There will be plenty of members willing to help. Also, if you have any programing needs this will be a good time to get these addressed.

I also hear the HT challenge course may be held once again if there is interest, I would expect to see this happen about 2:00PM.

The Stones River Amateur Radio Club will have a talk-in repeater atop Tiger Hill at 145.170 Mhz. (-) 114.8 Mhz.
