UPDATED: A Tennessee parolee with multiple convictions for cocaine and robbery offenses has been rearrested, this time accused of trafficking a 17-year-old runaway girl from another county for commercial sex acts. 48-Year-old Torrance Lamont Cosby was taken into custody late Tuesday night at a Brick Church Pike motel and charged with trafficking for commercial sex, gun possession by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen pistol.

Cosby's arrest resulted from an investigation by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents, Department of Children's Services staff, and detectives from the Metro Nashville Police Department's Special Victims Unit. The investigation began shortly after the TBI became aware of an Internet sex ad depicting a teenager. That teen was confirmed to be a missing juvenile, and her picture was posted on sites known to advertise commercial sex acts. Authorities quickly initiated a recovery operation.

On Tuesday, January 28th, agents made contact with the juvenile victim and recovered her at a north Nashville hotel. Through the course of detective work, information was developed about an individual staying in one of the hotel rooms the juvenile was in, and agents executed a search warrant, seizing a handgun and several electronic devices.

During the subsequent joint investigation, the girl was safely taken away from the property. Cosby was arrested after being identified as the person who allegedly controlled her activities and received the money. The stolen pistol was found under the mattress of his room.

Cosby has multiple felony convictions dating back to the 1990s, the latest of which (cocaine-related) resulted in a 15-year prison sentence in 2015. Cosby was previously sentenced in a Davidson County court case. According to state records, the 48-year-old was also fined $200-thousand. His current sentence ends next year in December of 2026. The state has already filed a parole violation warrant against Cosby.

The suspect remains behind bars at the Davidson County Downtown Detention Center in Nashville.
