Murfreesboro, TN (February 3, 2025) – The 5-year-old child who was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash last Thursday (1/30/2025) evening on Middle Tennessee Boulevard passed away over the weekend.
Police reports show that the child was properly restrained, but was trapped in the Mazda MZ6. Murfreesboro Fire Rescue extricated the child from the car and, with assistance from Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services, began medical treatment on-the-scene. The child was then transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center, but succumbed to injuries this past Saturday (2/1/2025).
As you recall from earlier broadcasts, 35-year-old Sylvio Victor from Antioch, was a passenger in the Mazda MZ6. He was pronounced deceased at scene.
The 5-year-old and the female driver of the Mazda were both taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The driver remains stable.
The male driver in the Nissan Rogue SUV, was taken to Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He is listed in stable condition.
Murfreesboro Police PIO Larry Flowers told WGNS, “The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Rogue was traveling westbound when it collided with the Mazda that was making a left turn onto Middle Tennessee Blvd. Investigators are trying to determine if speed was a contributing factor into the crash. The force of the impact caused the Mazda to crash into a car in a parking lot.”
Again, the drivers of both the Nissan Rogue SUV and Mazda MZ6 remain in stable condition. However, two passengers in the Mazda, an adult man and a 5-year old child, have both died.
The fatal crash occured around 6:46PM last Thursday (1/30/2025) evenng on Middle Tennessee Blvd. between Haley Road and Park Avenue remains under investigation by the Murfreesboro Police FACT Team (Fatal Accident Crash Team).
