(NASHVILLE) - Chip Walters, the unmistakable Voice of the Blue Raiders, will be inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class. Walters joins seven other distinguished individuals—two administrators, three coaches, and two officials—who will be honored at the annual luncheon on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Student Union Building on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.

Walters, a Murfreesboro native, has dedicated over 45 years to sports broadcasting, leaving an indelible mark on high school and collegiate athletics. His 33-year tenure with Middle Tennessee State University athletics, including 16 years as the official Voice of the Blue Raiders, has made him one of the most recognizable figures in Tennessee sports media. Walters' influence extends beyond MTSU, as he has provided play-by-play coverage for numerous TSSAA state championship events in football, basketball, and baseball. His work as an announcer for the TSSAA Blue Cross Bowl and Boys and Girls State Basketball Tournaments, along with his role as host of the TSSAA Spring Fling HQ broadcast, solidifies his legacy as a key contributor to high school sports in Tennessee.

The TSSAA Hall of Fame induction is a fitting recognition for Walters, whose passion for Tennessee sports has spanned decades. His broadcasting career began while he was a student at MTSU, calling high school games for local radio stations, including WGNS. Over the years, he has served as emcee for numerous TSSAA events, including the prestigious Mr. and Miss Basketball awards ceremony, and has played a crucial role in expanding media coverage for high school athletics across the state. Walters hosts the Derek Mason and Nick McDevitt radio shows, serves as emcee for numerous Blue Raider events, and hosts The Roundtable, a weekly radio show on Murfreesboro's WGNS that has become a local staple.

Joining Walters in the 2025 TSSAA Hall of Fame class are Bill Bingham (administrator, Bristol), Clint Jackson (administrator, Memphis), Jinx Cockerham (coach, Nashville), Donald Dodgen (coach, Knoxville), Pat Simpson (coach, Nashville), Jim Fox (official, Knoxville), and Thomas Frierson (official, Columbia). Their induction into the Hall of Fame is a testament to their lifelong dedication to high school athletics and education.

The Hall of Fame luncheon will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 7, celebrating the new inductees as well as past honorees who have shaped Tennessee’s sports landscape. Tickets will be available for purchase online starting Monday, February 24, through the TSSAA website (tssaa.org). All ticket orders will be available for pickup on the day of the event, with no ticket sales at the door.
