Murfreesboro, TN – UPDATE: Some shoppers hunt for bargains, others use coupons, and then there’s this guy—who took the “Dollar” in Dollar General a little too literally. Murfreesboro police are looking to chat with a mystery man who strolled into the Manchester Pike Dollar General on January 20th and decided that paying for his overflowing cart of goodies was optional.

Eyewitnesses report that the man confidently pushed his fully loaded, signature yellow cart right past checkout without a care in the world. But shockingly, instead of offering an apology or pretending to have forgotten his wallet, he reportedly reached into his waistband and made employees question their career choices. According to police, this dramatic gesture “insinuated he had a gun.” Nothing says “trust me, I belong here” quite like a vague threat on your way out the door. Regardless, he walked away and has not been identified as of Monday, February 17, 2025.

Security cameras caught the suspect rocking a stylish yet criminally unoriginal look—dark jeans, a dark jacket, and dark boots, complemented by a gray T-shirt. If you’ve recently spotted a man dressed like every other guy in Tennessee winter fashion, police would love to hear from you.

Authorities are now asking the community: Do you know this man? If so, Murfreesboro Police Detective Drew Stalnaker is awaiting your call at 629-201-5615. And if you are this man—well, MPD will find you eventually, so maybe save them the trouble and turn yourself in. Who knows, if you still have that signature yellow shopping cart, maybe you can keep it?

The unidentified man is alleged to have loaded a cart full of merchandise and left the store without paying. Prior to exiting the store, the man allegedly made threats to employees by reaching into his waistband, insinuating he had a gun.
