MURFREESBORO, TN - UPDATE: Around 11 a.m. on Monday, the southbound lanes of Broad Street—heading toward the Murfreesboro Square—were closed due to a two-vehicle crash. The collision involved a food delivery box truck and a sport utility vehicle. According to Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue, the roadway had to be shut down to clear debris from the wreck.
One of the vehicles struck a utility pole, prolonging the cleanup and raising concerns for the safety of passing motorists and pedestrians. The pole fell into the roadway during the crash, prompting Middle Tennessee Electric to respond quickly to remove and replace it. Meanwhile, Murfreesboro Police rerouted traffic, detouring drivers from Broad Street onto Stockard Street and then to College Street.
Reports indicate there were injuries, but they were minor, as confirmed by Fire & Rescue. The scene has since been cleared for drivers, thanks to the quick response of MTE, EMS, Murfreesboro Police and Fire & Rescue Personnel.
The pole was directly in front of the EuroStone countertop store at 805 NW Broad Street.
