MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee State University Board of Trustees will hold committee meetings on Tuesday, Feb. 25, in the Miller Education Center, Second Floor Meeting Room, 503 Bell St.
During their last set of meetings in November, multiple changes were made to the Residential Life and Housing policy for students who live on campus (Policy 541). Starting next month, guests visiting the dorms will be required to use the guest restrooms in the lobby instead of the residential restrooms. This change was made to protect student privacy. Another change allows for a more flexible approach to punishment for drug-related offenses that occur within student housing. While traditional guns and explosives are strictly prohibited, students living in campus housing will be allowed to have a taser or stun gun within the residence halls. Reports indicate that the policy changes will likely be reviewed during the upcoming meeting and are set to take effect on March 18, 2025.
Three new Master of Science degree programs were approved by committee members on November 12, 2024. These new programs include a Master’s in Digital Media, a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences, and a Master’s in Legal Studies, as announced by Provost Mark Byrnes during their last meeting. According to meeting minutes, the Legal Studies program will be offered in conjunction with the Nashville School of Law.
