MURFREESBORO, TN - Murfreesboro experienced significant traffic disruption on Tuesday afternoon, March 4, following a collision between an 18-wheeler and a dump truck. The crash occurred just before 3:30 p.m. on South Church Street at Warrior Drive, which turns into Butler Drive on one side of the roadway.
While no injuries were reported in the incident, the collision necessitated the closure of two outbound lanes, causing considerable delays for drivers. The situation was further complicated when the fuel tank of the dump truck was punctured during the crash, prompting a response from HAZMAT crews with Murfreesboro Fire Rescue (MFRD).
Firefighters worked diligently to seal the damaged tank and prevent leaking fluids from spilling onto the roadway. Motorists were forced to find alternate routes as many sat in traffic for an extended period of time. Crews cleared the scene to restore normal traffic flow, but not before causing quite the stir in the area.
Authorities urge drivers to remain cautious and aware while traveling through busy roads to prevent similar incidents in the future.
