MURFREESBORO, TN - Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) crews responded to a house fire on Medford Campbell Blvd this evening, encountering heavy flames in the attic upon arrival. Firefighters quickly began suppression efforts and initiated a search of the home, but their progress was halted when part of the roof collapsed.
To safely contain the fire, crews utilized an elevated water stream to knock down the bulk of the flames before re-entering to confirm the home was vacant and to extinguish remaining hot spots. Firefighters also faced an added hazard when power lines fell onto the first arriving fire truck, prompting Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) to respond and handle the electrical risk.
The home was unoccupied and undergoing renovations at the time of the fire. Assistant Fire Marshal Shan Womack is leading the investigation into the cause of the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Traffic on Bradyville Pike was temporarily blocked while crews worked to bring the fire under control. Multiple MFRD units, including engines, ladder trucks, rescue personnel, and fire marshals, were dispatched to the scene.
