Murfreesboro, TN – Murfreesboro Police PIO Larry Flowers told WGNS News that a post on social media about “a gunman being active on Broad Stret is inaccurate." The SWAT team and police are not on the scene of an active gunman, nor is the public in any danger of an active gunman or active shooter situation.
Flowers explained, “The Murfreesboro Police Department Special Operations Unit (SOU) served a search warrant at a home. A male and female are in custody. There is no threat to the community.”
The false information that was posted to social media by individuals on Tuesday (3/18/2025) morning, caused much concern, as evidenced by "comments" from other members of the public.
Also notable, the misspelling of words on the post to include the word “Middle” in one post, spelled as “Middel,” and the word “Presence,” spelled as “Precesses.” In another post that appears to be by the same person, the spelling is again wrong with “Middle” being spelled as “Middel.”
Flowers stressed, “We ask that before you share the original post regarding this incident, please know that it contains inaccurate information.” Again, the information is completely incorrect and there is no gunman on the prowl in the area of Middle Tennessee Blvd. and Broad Street in Murfreesboro.
