Cleanup on Aisle Crime: Alleged Value Sized Shoplifting Case for Murfreesboro Police

Mar 20, 2025 at 09:27 pm by WGNS News

Murfreesboro P-D confirmed shortly after photos were posted that the subject has been identified, and warrants are being obtained.

UPDATED: MURFREESBORO, TN – Murfreesboro Police have since confirmed, “Thanks to your tips, the woman in the photo has been identified. Detective Gorham is now securing warrants for theft of merchandise.” See details of original information below...

It’s hard to call someone thrifty when their savings strategy involves skipping the checkout line altogether, but one woman in Murfreesboro appears to have mastered the art of bulk shopping without the burden of paying. Surveillance footage from Lowe’s Home Improvement captured an unknown female wheeling out an impressive haul of household essentials, including industrial-sized packs of Bounty paper towels and enough Charmin toilet paper to weather any supply chain crisis.

Authorities say the woman’s cost-cutting measures unfolded over two separate trips—one on January 29 and the other just this week on March 17, 2025. In both instances, the unknown culprit allegedly made her way through the self-checkout lane with a cart full of goods, only to decide that scanning barcodes was an unnecessary step in her budget-conscious lifestyle.

Murfreesboro detectives have taken a keen interest in her shopping habits, particularly since her preferred payment method appears to be a clean getaway. While it’s unclear if she was planning for the world’s most absorbent fort or just hates running out of TP, police are hoping the community can help put a name to the face caught on camera.

If you recognize the woman in the security footage, Murfreesboro Police encourage you to give them a call. Detective Ed Gorham can be reached at 629-201-5507. In the meantime, local retailers may want to keep a closer eye on customers who prefer to roll out rather than ring up.
