Murfreesboro, TN - This afternoon (3/21/2025) at 2:00 o'clock Riverdale High School will kick off its annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation “Brave the Shave” head-shaving event, aimed at raising critical funds for childhood cancer research. Taking place on campus, the event has set a goal of $20,000 to support the Foundation's mission of finding better treatments and cures for children battling cancer.
Participants—students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and even community members ranging in age from 6 to 70—will either shave their heads or chop their locks as a bold gesture of solidarity.
Over 95 individuals have already committed to participate, making this year’s event one of the most spirited yet. Every organization at Riverdale High School, from Student Council to cheerleaders and JROTC, has joined forces to ensure the event's success.
“This event demonstrates the strength of our community when we come together for a meaningful cause,” said a school representative. “We’re proud to be part of something that brings hope to children and families affected by cancer.”
Organized as part of St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s signature events, the proceeds will directly fund groundbreaking research aimed at improving outcomes for young cancer patients. Riverdale High School has a proud tradition of hosting this event, rallying its students and faculty to not just meet, but exceed, the fundraising goal.
As the theme of the event suggests, participants remind everyone that small acts of kindness, like going bald, can contribute to life-changing research efforts.
Again, the public is invited to come to Riverdale High School at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon and be a part of the St. Baldrick's Foundation's shaves for a cause.
