MURFREESBORO, TN - An upcoming food pantry event will allow those who may be struggling, receive nutritious food items at Greenhouse Ministries this Saturday. Christy Sanford, the executive director of the local nonprofit, told WGNS that volunteers are still needed... Sanford highlighted that some volunteers will hand out food, while others will help load grocery items into the vehicles of those picking up food.

What makes these food pantry events stand out are the nutritional choices that are offered… The high-cost of living arrangements and changes in employment are by far, the most common problems…

Despite the hard times, Sanford noted that the majority of those receiving food are extremely grateful…

Those picking up food items at the event this Saturday signed up for a free voucher ahead of time by visiting Greenhouse Ministries. Vouchers are typically available two to three weeks before the pantry giveaway dates on a first-come, first-served basis. As always, to pick up a voucher, stop by Greenhouse Ministries at 309 S. Volunteering to serve this Saturday is as easy as showing up. From handing out food to carrying grocery items for those in need, Sanford said the food giveaway on March 29, 2025, is a volunteer-oriented event suitable for all ages. She also noted that it’s common to see entire families helping out. If you’d like to participate, simply arrive at 7:30 a.m. this Saturday. Plan to be on-site until about noon.
