NASHVILLE, TN - This week, the Tennessee Senate passed SJR001, which will amend the state constitution to ban statewide property taxes. To pass, SJR001 required a two-thirds majority in the Senate. It will appear on the 2026 ballot for voter approval.
AFP-TN State Director Tori Venable released the following statement:
"We are thrilled that the Senate passed this property tax resolution today. Banning statewide property taxes has been one of our top priorities this session, and we’re grateful that the legislature is working to protect the Volunteer State’s future."
