RC Fire-Rescue Locates Missing Man

UPDATED around 6:30PM Rockvale, TN - Keith Murdy, a 63-year-old man reported missing Friday morning (3//28/2025), was located by Rutherford County Fire-Rescue later that afternoon. Murdy had been reported missing around 10 a.m. in the Burnt Knob Road and Almaville area of Rutherford County.

Murdy, who has intellectual disabilities and is both hearing and sight impaired, was spotted by a trail camera around 11:30 a.m., providing crucial information for emergency responders during the search effort.

Lisa Marchesoni, public information officer for the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, praised the highly skilled rescue team, noting the county’s unique standing as one of the few in Tennessee to operate a fire and rescue agency. “Rutherford County Fire-Rescue serves the rural areas of the fastest-growing county in the state,” Marchesoni told NewsRadio WGNS.

The search involved coordinated efforts from the Rutherford County Fire-Rescue service, leveraging the skills of their trained personnel to bring Murdy to safety.

 

Original story:  Almaville, TN - 64-year-old Keith Murdy was reported missing around 10:00 o'clock Friday morning around (3/28/2025) in the Burnt Knob Road and Almaville area of Rutherford County.

Murdy, who has intellectual disabilities and is both hearing and sight impaired, was last seen on a trail camera at approximately 11:30AM. He was wearing blue jeans, a gray shirt, a brown sweatshirt with green lettering, and a blue hat.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who sees Murdy to call them immediately at 615-898-7770.

A coordinated search effort is underway involving Sheriff’s deputies, the Emergency Management Agency, and Rutherford County Fire & Rescue. Metro Nashville Police aircraft, drones, and bloodhounds are also assisting in the search, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Trey Nunley.

Officials are relying on local residents to aid in locating Murdy and ensure his safe return.
