La Vergne, TN – A routine traffic stop by La Vergne Police Sergeant Moore led to the discovery of stolen firearms and the subsequent indictment of burglary suspect Manuel De Jesus Guirola-Amaya by a federal grand jury. The 20-year-old, a citizen of Honduras without legal status in the U.S., faces multiple federal charges tied to a burglary at Golden Eagle Pawn, a Federal Firearms Licensee in Dickson, TN.
The incident occurred on December 5, 2024, when Sgt. Moore stopped Guirola-Amaya for expired vehicle registration. Upon investigation, officers uncovered five stolen pistols in the trunk and two more in the backseat, all of which were reported stolen earlier that day. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were also seized during the search.
Federal authorities connected Guirola-Amaya to the burglary, which involved two stolen cars ramming the pawn shop's front door and four suspects targeting firearm displays. Over 40 firearms were stolen during the two-minute burglary. Federal agents later executed search warrants at a residence tied to Guirola-Amaya and on his cell phones, uncovering further evidence of the crime, including firearms-related photos and videos, location data, and search queries.
Guirola-Amaya entered the U.S. illegally in March 2022. He has been charged with possession of a firearm by an illegal alien, possession of stolen firearms, and theft of firearms from a federal firearms licensee. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison for the first count and 10 years each for the other two counts, along with a $250,000 fine for each charge.
The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with the La Vergne and Dickson Police Departments. It is part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative focused on combating illegal immigration, transnational criminal organizations, and violent crime.
Acting U.S. Attorney Robert E. McGuire emphasized that Guirola-Amaya remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
