Rutherford County, TN - The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is having a mobile collection event this coming Saturday morning from 8:00AM to noon at the Murfreesboro Solid Waste Department, 4765 Florence Rd.
Items that are Accepted
Household hazardous waste encompasses items that are flammable, toxic, reactive, or corrosive. Examples include cleaning fluids, pesticides, mercury thermometers, fluorescent lamps, lithium batteries, aerosols, adhesives, brake fluid, swimming pool chemicals, paint thinner, and even used needles stored in sturdy containers.
However, not everything can be dropped off. Items like ammunition, explosives, alkaline batteries, paint, electronics, and empty containers should be disposed of elsewhere. For full details, phone (615) 295-9716.
Transport Tips
Since its inception in 1993, this statewide initiative has hosted over 1,500 collection events and helped more than 373,000 Tennessee households safely dispose of over 25 million pounds of hazardous materials. It’s free, convenient, and supports a cleaner, safer community.
