A focus on crime, law and order in Murfreesboro with Police Chief Michael Bown, Capt. Clayton Williams, and PIO Larry Flowers: N
- Crime dropped last year in Murfreesboro, and yet--the population "boom" continues.
- UPDATE on the April 1, 2025 armed robbery around 3:30PM Dollar General on Halls Hill Pike. Flowers said the suspect is still at large. Both MPD and MTSU police K-9s have aided in the search.
- Discussion of the outstanding response of the work at MPD's "Realtime Crime Center".
- MPD continues to work to get a "crime reduction program" to help train apartment complex management and employees trained to reduce crime from students living in the apartments.
- The "Real-Time Crime Center" detected gun fire and "triangulated the sound. No phone calls were received, but police went to the scene, found a robbery in progress, and made an arrest--and no one called police to report the crime. (Note: when the computer triangulates the sound of gunfire, it gets officers within 95 to 100-feet of the incident.
- Larry Flowers did not have an update on the pedestrian hit last Friday evening while crossing S. Church Street near I-24. His condition was described as "EXTREMELY CRITICAL".
