The county has four strategically located facilities available for residents seeking shelter from potentially dangerous weather:

  1. Readyville – 8055 Old Woodbury Pike
  2. Lascassas – 6525 Lascassas Pike
  3. Rockvale – 6540 Highway 99 (Salem Highway)
  4. Walter Hill – 6413 Lebanon Road

Rutherford County Fire-Rescue Chief Larry Farley and Rutherford County Commissioner Pettus Read spearheaded the initiative, emphasizing the importance of safety during this turbulent weather. Chief Farley issued a stern warning to the community: "Don't wait for storms to hit before attempting to make it to the safety of these public shelters."

These shelters are intended for residents who feel insecure in their current structures, underscoring the county's commitment to protecting the community during emergencies.
