County Storm Shelters Are Open NOW!

Rutherford County, Tenn.—As severe weather threatens the area, Rutherford County has reopened its four Public Safety Buildings as storm shelters to provide refuge for residents.

County officials activated the shelters at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, in response to the ongoing Tornado Watch. The newly established Public Health and Safety buildings have been designated as safe spaces during dangerous weather conditions.

Lisa Kaye, Public Information Officer for Rutherford County, told NewsRadio WGNS, “Out of an abundance of caution and severe weather uncertainties, the Public Health and Safety building storm shelters are now open.”

Meteorologists from WGNS Weatherology report that storm probabilities remain high through Saturday night, when a cooling trend is expected to bring relief.
