“Mark has been a pivotal partner in ensuring Tennessee’s elections remain the most secure in the nation,” said Rudd, who serves as chair of the House Elections and Campaign Finance Subcommittee. “His faithful public service and dedication to helping the Volunteer State thrive continue to be an inspiration to me. It was an honor to formally recognize his distinguished career and I look forward to continuing our work guaranteeing every law-abiding Tennessean’s voice is heard at the ballot box.”

Goins has served as elections coordinator since he was appointed by Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett in 2009. He has consistently worked with lawmakers to pass laws ensuring free, fair and secure elections.

“Tennesseans are well-served by the leadership and service of Mark Goins. His advice is sought nationally by many in the field of elections,” said Hargett. “I appreciate Rep. Rudd and the General Assembly for their bipartisan support in recognizing Mark’s dedication and service, as well as his continued commitment to making Tennessee the national leader in election integrity.”

Tennessee has been ranked No. 1 in election integrity for three consecutive years by the Heritage Foundation Election Integrity Scorecard.

Goins previously served on the State Election Commission and in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
