Possible Tornado Spotted in Lascassas as Severe Weather Persists

LASCASSAS, TN – A Lascassas resident reported spotting what appeared to be a tornado forming early Thursday morning around 6 a.m. (photo above and below). Peggy King later shared on social media how fortunate they felt that the funnel cloud did not touch down. Across the state, at least 8 deaths have been reported so far.

Meanwhile, flash flood warnings remain in effect across Tennessee, as heavy rain and scattered storms continue. Forecasters predict strong winds over the next three days, with speeds ranging between 10 and 20 miles per hour in most areas of the state.

This latest weather scare comes just days after four confirmed tornadoes touched down in Tennessee between March 30 and March 31, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The recent tornadoes included:

  • An EF-2 in Maury County
  • An EF-1 in Maury County
  • An EF-0 in Williamson County
  • An EF-1 in Humphreys County

As storm systems continue to move through the region, residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware and take precautions. WGNS will continue to provide updates on severe weather conditions as they develop.
