Murfreesboro, TN - Initial reports indicated that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon (April 1, 2025) at the intersection of John Bragg Highway and Coleman Road. However, updated information from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) reveals that the incident involved an 80-year-old bicyclist, not a pedestrian.

Emergency crews temporarily closed the four-lane divided highway to allow the Ascension St. Thomas' StatFlight helicopter to land and transport the injured man for medical treatment.

According to the THP’s just released accident report, the bicyclist was traveling north on Coleman Road and attempting to cross John Bragg Highway when the collision occurred. At the same time, a 2016 Ford Fusion was traveling south on Coleman Road and making a turn onto the highway.

Investigators determined that the bicyclist failed to yield to the vehicle.

The driver of the Ford Fusion was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The THP also confirmed that the elderly bicyclist was wearing a helmet.

WGNS News has opted not to release the names of those involved, as the condition of the bicyclist remains unknown and out of respect for his family.
