Storms Pack a Punch in Rutherford County and the Midstate: More Severe Weather on the Way Saturday

Apr 03, 2025 at 08:21 pm by Rutherford Weather

Rutherford County and much of Middle Tennessee experienced multiple rounds of strong storms on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning to the area. The unsettled weather was part of a larger system that moved through the midstate, prompting several watches and warnings throughout the day. As storms were about to roll into Rutherford County from nearby Chapel Hill Thursday, Rutherford Weather Meteorologist Justin Bailey and Bryan Bailey captured some great photos and a video.

While conditions have since calmed, forecasters are keeping a close eye on the next potential round of severe weather expected Saturday night into the overnight hours. There is growing concern that this next system could bring strong storms capable of producing damaging winds, hail, and even isolated tornadoes.

The timing—overnight Saturday into early Sunday—adds an extra layer of concern, as severe weather that occurs after dark can catch people off guard.

Rutherford Weather will continue to follow the storms on WGNS Radio, WGNSRadio.com and the Rutherford Weather channel. Be sure to suggest they like and subscribe to Rutherford Weather on YouTubeFacebookX and Twitch for updates and to see live weather coverage of severe weather.
