Pre-match instructions will begin at 8:30 AM, with the first round of play kicking off at 9:00 AM in the school cafeteria. Unlike open-entry tournaments, this invitational format ensures that only one competitor from each participating high school will face off, making victory all the more meaningful.

The ultimate prize? The coveted “Master’s Tie”, a mark of excellence awarded to the champion—a testament to superior strategic thinking and mental discipline.

“This tournament is about more than just chess,” said Rob Mitchell, Rutherford County Assessor and event organizer. “It’s about sharpening young minds, fostering competitive spirit, and honoring the power of critical thinking. We are proud to bring together some of the most talented high school players for this exciting event.”

A Community Effort - Local businesses, booster clubs, and community members are encouraged to sponsor a competitor, helping ensure that every student has the opportunity to compete at the highest level. Those interested in supporting the event can reach out to Promoting Pawns at promotingpawnsrctn@gmail.com or contact their school’s sponsor or principal.
