MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) is excited to announce the hiring of Shala Ferrell as the new head coach of the Lady Cougars basketball program.
Coach Ferrell joins MTCS after a successful four-year tenure as the head girls basketball coach at Westwood Middle School in Manchester. In addition to her work at the middle school level, she has been actively involved with the Top Gun AAU basketball program, where she has helped develop young athletes both on and off the court. Ferrell will also serve as an educational assistant in the elementary school at MTCS.
“We are thrilled to welcome Shala and her family to the Cougar family,” said MTCS Athletic Director Jason Piercey. “Coach Ferrell’s energy and passion for developing players on and off the court will not only drive our program’s continued success but also prepare our current and future athletes to excel at the next level.”
Coach Ferrell expressed her excitement about joining the MTCS community and leading the Lady Cougars. “I am very excited for the opportunity and eager to get started with the Lady Cougars! I look forward to building a positive and supportive atmosphere in our locker room that will translate onto the basketball court.”
MTCS President Matt Tiller echoed the enthusiasm, highlighting Ferrell’s impact beyond the game itself. “Coach Ferrell brings not only a deep knowledge of the game, but also a passion for mentoring student-athletes on and off the court. We’re excited for the leadership and vision she will bring as we continue to build a strong, competitive, and most importantly, Christ-centered program. Go Cougars!”
