Madison, TN – Authorities are actively searching for a man accused of fatally stabbing his estranged wife in the parking lot of Chadwell Elementary School early Monday morning. The Metro Nashville Police Department has issued a criminal homicide warrant for 54-year-old Candido Raul Rubio-Perez, who remains at large.
The victim, identified as 52-year-old Niurka Alfonso-Acevedo, was found unresponsive in the school parking lot around 6 a.m. by a staff member arriving for work. The staff member immediately contacted emergency services upon discovering Alfonso-Acevedo, who had suffered multiple stab wounds. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, Alfonso-Acevedo had been employed as a custodian at Chadwell Elementary since the fall of last year. Detectives believe Rubio-Perez was lying in wait for her arrival at the school Monday morning. The murder occurred before any students had arrived for class, and school officials have since worked to ensure the safety and emotional well-being of students and staff.
Police say the killing appears to be related to a domestic violence situation. Rubio-Perez and Alfonso-Acevedo were reportedly estranged at the time of the attack.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on Rubio-Perez’s location to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in this homicide case.
